Our Story
From as far back as I can remember, I have had a connection to dogs and the animal world. Raised in the hills of Germany, I played among our grandparents boxers. Respect for mother nature and the responsibility we have to it was a natural practices by the elders who taught me how to living amongst the canine part of our family and the world itself. At 4 years old, I received some visible scratches on my from an adult Boxer while he was eating. This did not even deter my quest to care for and enjoy the company of dogs.

Although I was brought up in this environment, the path that that took me to move to the US and back again was quite an adventure. I come from a military family and we moved to various duty stations.
In Oklahoma, I was able to experience the presence of dogs again as a child in various ways. Lady, a long-haired dachshund, was my first dog stateside that was given to us from a situation that was less than favorable. She became my best buddy and the connection was instant. Another dog was purchased by my parents from a neighbor who bred Chow Chows. It was my first puppy and it was a very joyous moment. However, that was short lived because Snoogy was stolen not too long afterwards. And finally, my mother decided we can go to the shelter to find another dog that would help with protecting our backyard. We went to the local shelter and found what I would say the perfect rescue dog ever. Zorro was a handsome, well build mixed dog that resembled a Rottweiler with the colors and build of a healthy Pitbull. We had an instant connection and brought him home. He was an instant deterrent for anyone every climbing over our fence and very protective of me. He also got along with Lady which made this new addition a great fit.

When we moved back to Germany, unfortunately we never returned to owning dogs. My outlet was my grandfather’s boxers once again.

After years without have dogs as a young adult and a recent setback, my wife Jonique, decided to get a dog for us. I was soon inspired by our new puppy, a Chihuahua, who challenged me to get back to my normal self and to the natural side of me. It was then that I was able to reconnect with the dog world and build a beautiful and fun filled relationship with Bitsy.

Our first rescue in the New Orleans was a Terrier mix puppy about 3 months old. Now names Pierre was found happily walking the road when Bitsy and I found him along our morning walk. Pierre was brought to the LA SPCA and no microchip or reports found on him. After two weeks, the LA SPCA allowed us to make a decision on keeping him. Needless to say, Pierre joined our family and received some great basic obedience and manners training. So well, that he became the demo dog and Roaddog K9 was born!

The story goes on from here with Roaddog K9. Join us on our journey to helping owners and canines build better relationships and bring results that they deserve.
